About Me

Hi, and welcome to A Glutenless Girl.

Let me start off by telling your a little about myself. I have always suffered from a stomach, digestive, and may other issues but not until late did they worsen. After a trip to my physician I was put through a series of test for a wheat allergy or Celiac Disease  After taking all my tests I went ahead and started on a gluten free diet. So there I was, trying to figure out how and what to eat. After reviewing a million different sites, reading articles, and looking at books I started to feel totally overwhelmed. Where to start? What to eat? What not to eat? And what the heck is gluten anyway?

At first I started eating lots of veggies and chicken… and more veggies! Salads with chicken everyday is no way to live, but I had never felt better in my life. It was like for the first time everything was working as it should be. I was totally into the gluten-free diet for the first few weeks. But I quickly became tired of the plain meals and did just what I wasn’t supposed to… I cheated. A little gluten couldn’t hurt, right? Wrong! During a weekend in San Diego with my husband I slipped up, not thinking, and ate flour tortilla chips! By the end of the night I started to feel sluggish, sick, and bloated.  Being so new to a G-free diet I was still use to this feeling. I thought nothing of it until I saw my sister the next morning. The first question out of her mouth was “DID YOU EAT WHEAT!”. I hung my head in shame remembering the super yummy tortilla chips of the night before. After being bloated and sick for days I decided to make this lifestyle work for me. I had no choice, this was my new life one way or another. So I start researching the gluten-free diet.

After getting my test results back it looked like Celiac was in the cards for me. So here I am, with the help of my family and amazing husband working together to fight against gluten!

I decided to make this blog not only to possibly help others just starting but also as a guide for myself. To keep myself accountable and figure out whats good to eat.

With my husband is serving in the United States Navy we are always on the go. Gluten-free is not so easy at all restaurants therefore I will be in search and reviewing. I currently reside in Southern California but frequently find myself traveling out of state.

I have my armor on, family by my side, and I’m ready to head out into the great big gluten filled world! Charge!

  1. I’ve been gluten free for a few years now – although I occasionally slip up too! My blog has lots of recipes and tips which I hope you might find helpful. Also lots of stuff about kids, but you don’t have to like those. 😉
